TÓN-LIST 2014
COLLABORATION PROJECT CALLED ´WHAT A WASTE OF MASCARA´
WITH VALDÍS ÞORKELSDÓTTIR, EXHIBITION AT TÓNLISTARMIÐSTÖÐIN, REYKJAVÍK.

An exhibition consisting of 3 spaces.  Each space has the same work of art, light and infrastructure. Each room will be filled with the carefully curated sounds of radically differing musical styles. In one space classical music will jubilantly play, the other with thrill to the sounds of 1970s jazz music and in the third there will be the proud pump of old school hip hop music. We challenge the audience, the observer and the dilletante to become connoseurs of their own exquisite and subtle psycho-emotional responses in this new, relational platform for artistic experience.

TÓN-LIST (SOUND-ART) is an experiment in exhibition form, a truly immersive experience, and an exercise in existentialism. We are manipulating the conditions that challenge the interplay of sound and vision. It emphasises in practice how music can affect the experience of vision, by giving the visitors an opportunity to observe exactly the same art piece whilst under the influence of wildly different sound. Our experiment aims to enforce the transcendental power of music upon the perception of our physical reality. By provoking our cognative experiences of visual art through music, the exhibition connects to the deeper meaning of how people observe and are conditioned both consciously and unconciously to the visual and the physical world.
